    Let \(U\) be an open subset of \(\mathbb{R}^n\). For an \(m\)-times differentiable function \(g:U\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\) write \(D^mg=(D^\alpha g)_{|\alpha|=m}\) for the collection of all partial derivatives of order \(m\). Let \(f=(f^\alpha)_{|\alpha|=m}\) be a Lebesgue measurable function defined on \(U\). The author proves that there is a function \(g\in C^{m-1}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) such that \(g\) is \(m\)-times differentiable a.e. and \(D^m g= f\) a.e. on \(U\). This generalizes a theorem of \textit{L. Moonens} and \textit{W. F. Pfeffer} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 339, No. 1, 746--752 (2008; Zbl 1141.28008)] who considered the case \(m=1\) and, in particular, a classical theorem of \textit{N. Lusin} [Annali di Mat. (3) 26, 77--129 (1917; JFM 46.0391.01)], where \(m=n=1\).
