The authors present an algorithm for the symbolic computations of recursion operators for systems of nonlinear differential-difference equations (DDEs). The existence of a recursion operator guarantees the complete integrability of the DDE because such operators allow one to compute an infinite sequence of generalized symmetries. The algorithm is applied to a number of well-known DDEs, including the Kac-van Moerbeke (Volterra), Toda, and Ablowitz-Ladik lattice, for which recursion operators are shown. However, the algorithm does not allow to compute recursion operators for lattices due to Blaszak-Marciniak and Belov-Chaltikian. An extension of the algorithm that would cover these lattices is under investigation.
