The main result is the following theorem: For any integer \(n\geq 1\) there are principal ideal domains \(A\) with field of fractions \(K\) such that the level \(s(K)= 3^n\) and the level \(s(A)= 2^n+1\). Furthermore there are some results on the sublevel of principal ideal domains.
