Ideals with larger projective dimension and regularity (Q719754)

The present paper defines a family of homogeneous ideals with large projective dimension and regularity relative to the number of generators and their common degree. This gives a lower bound for any answer to the following question by Stillman: Fix a sequence of natural numbers \(d_1,\dots,d_n\). Does there exist a number \(p\) (independent of \(n\)) such that \(pd(R/I)\leq p\) for all graded ideals \(I\) with a minimal system of homogeneous generators of degrees \(d_1,\dots,d_n\)? The family of ideals presented in this paper generalizes previous work by \textit{J. McCullough} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 139, No. 6, 2017--2023 (2011; Zbl 1215.13007)].
