Let \((X,d)\) be a cone metric space and \(g,f:X \to X\) be mappings. Then \(g\) is called an \(f\)-quasi contraction if for some constant \( \lambda \in (0,1)\) and for every \(x,y \in X,\) there exists \(u\in C(f;x,y)={d(fx,fy),d(fx,gx),d(fx,gy),d(fy,gy),d(fy,gx)}\) such that \(d(gx,gy) \preceq \lambda u\). In Theorems 3.1 and 3.2 the authors prove the existence of a unique common fixed point for self-mappings \((g,f)\) in complete cone metric spaces where \(g\) is an \(f\)-quasi contraction with \(\lambda \in (0, \frac {1}{2})\) and \(g\) commutes with \(f\). In Theorem 4.2 the existence of a unique common fixed point for non-self-mappings \((g,f)\) in a complete cone metric space is proved where \(g\) is an \(f\)-quasi contraction with \(\lambda \in (0, \frac {1}{2})\) and \((g,f)\) is coincidentally commuting. Examples are given to illustrate that Theorem 4.2 extends some known results, as normality of the cone is not required in Theorem 4.2.
