A crystal \(B(\infty)\) is some combinatorial object associated with a Lie algebra over \(g\). It ``contains a lot of information about \(g\) and its finite-dimensional representations. The crystal \(B(\infty)\) has many realizations, one for each reduced expression for the longest element of the Weyl group. The procedure describing an action of crystal operators is algorithmic but quite complicated. In the paper under review the authors ``show that, for certain reduced expressions, the crystal operators can also be described by a much simpler bracketing rule. They give conditions describing these reduced expressions, and show that there is at least one example in every type except possibly \(E_8\), \(F_4\) and \(G_2\).''
