The authors discuss the water waves arising in one-dimensional models of combustion in porous media to understand how the waves fit together in solutions of Riemann problems. The work is an extension of the case studied by \textit{G. Chapiro} et al. [J. Hyperbolic Differ. Equ. 11, No. 2, 295--328 (2014; Zbl 1304.35418)].
