We propose a novel Microscale Topological Surgery (MTS) algorithm for interface tracking in two-dimensional flows with microscale breakup, which combines classical Lagrangian tracking with an intermittent topological processor to detect and enforce topological transitions across microscale defect regions. The MTS method exhibits second-order geometric convergence and optimal computational scaling, and captures coherent droplet size distributions and statistically robust filament-breakup dynamics in a novel nonlinear alternating-shear flow.
