The authors identify Carathéodory conditions which are sufficient for the existence of solutions of a class of nonlinear Volterra integro-differential equations in the framework of absolutely continuous functions. This is done mainly by using the Arzelà-Ascoli theorem, an iterative procedure, induction and a fixed point argument.
