The author first proves some assertions providing a connection between the reflexivity of a Banach space and the closedness of the algebraic sum of its subsets. Then, he derives a kind of generalization of the known fact that the algebraic sum of a closed and a compact subset of a Hausdorff topological vector space is closed.
