A weaving knot \(W(p,q)\) is an alternating knot or link with the same projection as the standard \(p\)-braid \((\sigma_1, \sigma_2,\ldots,\sigma_{p-1})^q\) projection of the torus knot or link \(T(p,q)\) with crossing number \(c(W(p,q))=q(p-1)\). Weaving knots were conjectured by X.-S. Lin in the early 2000s to be among the maximum volume knots for fixed crossing number. In [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 94, No. 3, 883--908 (2016; Zbl 1358.57013)] the present authors proved that weaving knots are geometrically maximal. That is, they satisfy \[ \lim_{p,q\rightarrow\infty}\frac{\mathrm{vol}(W(p,q))}{c(W(p,q))}=v_{\mathrm{oct}}, \] where \(\mathrm{vol}(W(p,q))\) denotes the hyperbolic volume and \(v_{\mathrm{oct}}= 3.6639\ldots\) is the volume of a regular ideal octahedron. As the main result in this paper the authors provide asymptotically sharp, explicit bounds on volumes of weaving knots in terms of \(p\) and \(q\) alone. They prove that for \(p\geq3\) and \(q\geq7\) \[ v_{\mathrm{oct}}(p-1)q\big(1-\frac{2\pi^2}{q^2}\big)^{3/2}\leq \mathrm{vol}(W(p,q))<(v_{\mathrm{oct}}(p-3)+4v_{\mathrm{tet}})q, \] where \(v_{\mathrm{tet}}\approx 1,01494\) is the volume of the regular ideal tetrahedron.
