Let \(M_R\) be a right \(R\)-module and \(S\) the endomorphism ring of \(M_R\). The \(P\)-coherence of ring \(S\) is studied (i.e. when every principal right ideal of \(S\) is finitely presented). The following conditions are equivalent: (1) \(S\) is a right \(P\)-coherent ring; (2) Every cyclically \(M\)-copresented right \(R\)-module has an \(\text{add\,}M_R\)-precover; (3) Every endomorphism of \(M_R\) has a pseudokernel in \(\text{add\,}M_R\). In a similar way is described the dual situation when the ring \(S\) is a left \(P\)-coherent ring. The following conditions are equivalent: (1) \(S\) is a left \(P\)-coherent ring; (2) Every cyclically \(M\)-presented right \(R\)-module has an \(\text{add\,}M_R\)-preenvelope; (3) Every endomorphism of \(M_R\) has a pseudocokernel in \(\text{add\,}M_R\). Some specifications are obtained in the cases when \(M_R\) is a quasi-injective or quasi-projective module.
