The paper under review deals with some analogs of extension theorems for the Fourier transform (see for instance [\textit{E. M. Stein}, Harmonic analysis. Princeton Mathematical Series. 43. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press. (1993; Zbl 0821.42001)]). The authors study the restriction of the Fourier transform to quadric surfaces in vector spaces over finite fields. In two dimensions, they obtain a sharp result by considering the sums of arbitrary two elements in the subset of quadratic surfaces on two dimensional vector spaces over finite fields. For higher dimensions, they estimate the decay of Fourier transform of the characteristic functions on quadratic surfaces so that they obtain the Tomas-Stein exponent. Using incidence theorems, they also study the extension theorems in the restricted settings to sizes of sets in quadratic surfaces. Estimates for Gauss and Kloosterman sums and their variants play an important role.
