The referred paper deals with the characterization of the volume-ranking of the opportunity sets in welfare analysis methods. The opportunity set is defined here as finite union of convex and compact Euclidean sets, and it is shown that this concept is general enough to cover a wide scale of opportunity sets usually considered in particular economic models. The main result presented in the paper relies on a valuation-based volume-characterization, and it regards some original conditions under which the volume-ranking can be interpreted as a freedom-ranking of the opportunity sets.
