Reduced basis approximation and a posteriori error estimation for the time-dependent viscous Burgers' equation (Q734130)

The authors analyze a reduced-basis Galerkin method for the Burgers equation. The method starts with the construction of a set of solutions at sample times, \(t_k\), with sample viscosities,~\(\nu_j\). A reduced basis is derived from this solution set, and the integrals required by the Galerkin method are stored. This permits the subsequent rapid computation of solutions. The paper gives error bounds.
