Quasi-energy function for diffeomorphisms with wild separatrices (Q736221)

Let \(G_{4,1}\) denote the class of diffeomorphisms inducing a special Heegaard splitting of genus 1 of the sphere \(S^3\). The main result of the present paper establishes that any quasi-energy function of a diffeomorphism \(f\in G_{4,1}\) has exactly six critical points. The proof combines elements of Morse theory with techniques in the theory of Lyapunov functions.
