Many years ago the author started to work on the principle of the fermionic projector and since then wrote many articles on causal fermion systems, thus providing a bridge between mathematics and quantum physics. Important for him was a non-perturbative construction of the fermionic projector. The present book collects the results of many research papers of the author and shows the great endeavor behind. There are five chapters. Chapter 1 gives an overview of the main topic, the framework for causal fermion systems as a fundamental approach to unified quantum physics. It is meant to lay the basic mathematical concepts. Chapter 2 introduces computational tools for the continuum limit of the causal action. Chapter 3 analyzes a system of relativistic interacting fermions in a space-time continuum. One important subject here concerns the Euler-Lagrange equations. Chapter 4 applies the causal action principle to a system of Dirac particles including neutrinos. This approach combines weak and gravitational interactions. Chapter 5 analyzes the causal action principle and the continuum limit for a system involving both leptons and quarks. Effective interactions are obtained combining gravity and gauge fields of the Standard Model. I find this book extremely useful and important for mathematicians and physicists alike, because it signifies a renaissance of mathematical logic and new vision of particle physics and gravity.
