This very well written paper provides a strengthening and completion of the proof of the famous \(F^*\) theorem. The main results (Theorem A and B) are concerned with a finite group \(G\) and a normal \(p\)-subgroup \(N\) containing its centraliser \(C_G(N)\). For a \(p\)-adic ring \(R\), Theorem A states that any finite \(p\)-subgroup \(U\) of the normalized units \(V(RG)\) that normalizes \(N\) is conjugate to a subgroup of \(G\) by a unit of \(RG\). During the proof of Theorem A, the author first proves that if \(U\) centralizes \(N\) then \(U\) is contained in \(N\). This is the statement of Theorem B, which could also be obtained as a corollary to Theorem A. An important corollary to Theorem B is that if a finite group \(G\) contains a normal subgroup \(N\) with \(C_G(N) \subseteq N\) then any central unit of \(p\)-power order in \(V(RG)\) is already contained in the center of \(G\).
