    The authors consider the following nonlinear differential equation of third order with multiple constant delays \[ (\psi ({x}'){x}'{)}'' + a(t){x}'' + nb(t)g({x}') + c(t)\sum\limits_{i = 1}^n {h_i } (x(t - r_i )) = q(t), \tag{1} \] where \(r_i \) are certain positive constants, fixed constant delays, \(x \in \mathbb R\), \(\mathbb R = ( - \infty ,\infty )\), \(t \in \mathbb R_+\), \(\mathbb R_+ = [0,\infty )\), the functions \(a\), \(b\), \(c\), \(q\), \(\psi\), \(g\) and \(h_i\) are continuous functions such that the derivatives \(a'\), \(b'\), \(c'\), \(\psi'\), \(\psi''\) and \(h'_i = \frac{dh_i }{dx}\) exist and are continuous. The authors obtain sufficient conditions for the uniform asymptotical stability of the solutions of equation (1) when \(q(t) \equiv 0\) and boundedness of solutions of equation (1) when \(q(t) \neq 0\), respectively. Two new theorems are proved on the stability and boundedness of solutions. Some results in the literature are extended and improved.
