The paper presents a computer solution of two-dimensional nonlinear reaction-diffusion problems in a heterogeneous system as of interest in optical lithography. It develops a discretization scheme which is backward Euler in the time domain and Vornoi finite volume grids in the space domain while retaining the analytic properties of the continuous problem. The process of discretization involves the application of a discrete Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality in the setting of Vornoi finite volume schemes. Several lemmas and theorems are stated and proved to determine the lower and upper bounds of the solution. The scheme is tested for a polymer undergoing the Michalis-Menten-Henery reaction mechanism consisting of an intermediate product before producing the final product. The diffusion coefficient is highly nonlinear. The time iteration is carried out by Newton's method and it is shown that the convergence is achieved in just 3-4 steps.
