The authors employ a variety of techniques to establish under quite general conditions the existence of three or four solutions for quasilinear problems \[ -\Delta_p u(z) - \Delta u(z) = f(z,u(z)) \;\;\text{ in } \;\;\Omega, \;\;\left. u\right|_{\partial \Omega} = 0, \] where \(\Omega\) is a \(C^2\) bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\). The cases \(2< p <\infty\) and \(1<p<2\) (singular case) are considered separately. The Lyapunoff-Schmidt reduction method is used in the case \(1<p<2\), and other methods of critical point theory such as Morse theory, truncation and comparison techniques are used to prove the existence and to distinguish between solutions as well as study their regularity and sign.
