A module \(M\) over a ring is said to be simple-direct-injective if for any two simple submodules \(A\) and \(B\) of \(M\) with \(A\cong B\) and \(B\subset^\oplus M\), we have \(A\subset^\oplus M\). In the paper under review some well-studied rings are characterized using simple-direct-injective modules. Namely, it is proved that a ring \(R\) is Artinian serial and its Jacobson radical \(J(R)\) satisfies \(J(R)^2=0\), if and only if every simple-direct-injective right \(R\)-module is a \(C3\)-module. Also a regular ring \(R\) is a right \(V\)-ring if and only if every cyclic right \(R\)-module is simple-direct-injective.
