The author considers the complexified Green function for the 2D Helmholtz equation. It can be considered as nonparaxial model for a Gaussian beam. He studies several properties of the Green function, in particular asymptotic expansion in the paraxial domain in the far field, in dependence on the choice of the branch of the complex square root.
