Let \((\Omega ,{\mathcal F},P)\) be a probability space, \(X\) a separable Banach space, and \(L_0^X(\Omega )\) the set of equivalent classes of \(X\)-valued random variables, endowed with the topology of convergence in probability. The main results of the paper are theorems on the existence of coincidence points for self mappings on \(L_0^X(\Omega )\), satisfying some expansive-type conditions. As an application, the author obtains existence and uniqueness results for different types of equations in \(L_0^X(\Omega )\). The following fixed point theorem (Corollary 4.3) is an example: Let \(\Phi :L_0^X(\Omega )\to L_0^X(\Omega )\) be surjective, continuous in probability, and there is \(q>1\) such that \(P(\| \Phi u-\Phi v\| >t)\geq P(\| u-v\| >t/q)\) for all \(u,v\in L_0^X(\Omega )\), \(t>0\). If there are \(v_0\in L_0^X(\Omega )\) and \(p>0\) satisfying \(E\| \Phi v_0 -v_0\| ^p < \infty\), then \(\Phi \) has a unique fixed point. Related results for contractive-type operators were given by \textit{Dang Hung Thang} and the author [Acta Math. Vietnam. 39, No. 2, 163--184 (2014; Zbl 1322.47057)]. Reviewer's remark: In both papers, the authors call the self mappings on \(L_0^X(\Omega )\) complete random operators. Coincidence points (fixed points) of such operators are called random coincidence points (random fixed points). In my opinion, this terminology is misleading.
