This paper studies several classes of standard graded Koszul \(k\)-algebras. The notion of absolutely Koszul algebras was introduced by \textit{S. Iyengar} and \textit{T. Römer} in [J. Algebra 322, No. 9, 3212--3237, (2009; Zbl 1184.13039)]. Absolutely Koszul algebras are good Koszul algebras in the sense of \textit{J.-E. Roos} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 201, No. 1--3, 295--327 (2005; Zbl 1090.13008)]. Section 2 of this paper studies how absolute Koszulness behave under morphisms and fiber products of standard graded \(k\)-algebras. Let \(R\) be a standard graded \(k\)-algebra. If there exist a standard graded complete intersection \(Q\) and a surjective Golod morphism \(Q\to R\), then \(R\) is said to have the Backelin-Roos property. If a Koszul algebra has the Backelin-Roos property, then it is absolutely Koszul. In section 3 the authors prove that the Backelin-Roos property is preserved under fiber products and give a numerical obstruction to the Backelin-Roos property in terms of the Hilbert function. The main result of section 4 is that every universally Koszul algebra defined by monomials has the Backelin-Roos property. In section 5 the authors study when a Veronese algebra or a Segre algebra has the Backelin-Roos property. In the final section the authors investigate the bound for the global linearity defect of standard graded \(k\)-algebras.
