Authors present a laminated-plate theory based on the von Kármán plate model. At the boundaries of the individual plates general unilateral boundary conditions are assumed to hold. Restricting to normal stresses (perpendicular to the plane) in the binding layer the interaction between the laminae including a possible delamination is described by a nonmonotone, possibly multivalued law. This one can be derived from a nonconvex superpotential and permits the formulation of the problem as a variational-hemivariational inequality. The stretching of the laminae is shown to be governed by variational equalities. Results on the existence and the approximation of the solution are given using compactness, monotonicity, and average value arguments.
