It is proved that the characterization \(F*F=F\) of the degenerate in zero distribution function \(E\) is stable in the uniform metric \(\rho\) : If \(\rho(F*F,F)\leq \varepsilon\) \((\leq 0.01)\), then \(\rho (F,E)\leq (1- \sqrt{1-12\varepsilon})/6\), and this estimate cannot be improved.
