Recently we read the article of (*) \textit{J. J. Golecki} [ibid. 1, 85-88 (1974; Zbl 0356.73019)], which states that known derivations of the Papkovich-Neuber representation are incomplete because this solution is not single-valued in the two-dimensional problem. In this paper, we point out that the conclusion of (*) is incorrect. In fact, the Papkovich-Neuber form of the solution of the equilibrium equation in terms of displacements can be applied in any two-dimensional region, simply or multiply-connected. And the solution is complete. We start with the derivation of the Papkovich-Neuber solution of the two- dimensional problem from the equilibrium equation. It is obvious that the solution is single-valued. Then we make clear that both limitation and omission for the potential function in the Papkovich-Neuber solutions can create many-valuedness. The mistake of (*) lies in that conjugate limitation has been added to the Papkovich-Neuber representation of (*). We show clearly the same thing also exists in the case of the three- dimensional axisymmetric problem. In the last section, we emphatically point out: The Papkovich-Neuber solution does not possess uniqueness. At least we can find a Papkovich-Neuber solution which has single- valuedness.
