Let K be a finite extension of \({\mathbb{Q}}_ p\), \(\Gamma\) a Schottky group in \(PGL_ 2(K)\) and \(X=X_{\Gamma}\) the corresponding Mumford curve. Denote by \(V_ n\) the n-th symmetric power of the standard representation of \(SL_ 2(K)\), by \(\underline{V_ n}\) the corresponding local system on X (i.e. locally constant sheaf of vector spaces), and let \({\mathcal V}_ n:={\mathcal O}_ X\otimes \underline{V_ n}\) the associated vector bundle. The author shows that the de Rham cohomology group \(H^ 1_{dR}(X,\underline{V_ n}):=H^ 1(X,\Omega^*\otimes {\mathcal V}_ n)\) can be identified with the space of \(\underline{V_ n}\)-valued differentials of the second kind on X, modulo exact ones, and proves a Hodge decomposition theorem: \(H^ 1_{dR}(X,\underline{V_ n})=H^{n+1,0}\otimes H^{0,n+1}.\) Then the method is applied to a family \(X_ S\) of Mumford curves, where it also yields a Hodge decomposition \({\mathcal H}^ 1_{dR}(X/S,\underline{V_ n})\cong {\mathcal H}^{n+1,0}\oplus {\mathcal H}^{0,n+1}\). In the case \(n=0\) the author finds a basis of \({\mathcal H}^{0,1}\) which is horizontal for the Gauß-Manin connection. He also shows that the Hodge decomposition in this case forms a variation of Hodge structure, thus reproving with new methods results of \textit{L. Gerritzen} [Math. Ann. 275, 425-453 (1986; Zbl 0622.14018)]. Both in notation and results the paper heavily relies on the author's previous article [J. Reine Angew. Math. 400, 3-31 (1989; Zbl 0674.14031)].
