The author suggests to replace the Hilbert-space model of quantum mechanics by the so-called frame manuals formulation (given a separable Hilbert space H, its frame manual is the set of its orthonormal bases) and to use a notion of tensor product of manuals to describe the coupling of two separated quantum mechanical systems. The states on such a tensor product give rise to a sesquilinear form on the tensor product of the underlying Hilbert spaces, sometimes representable by operators which are not necessarily positive, nor trace-class.
