This paper gives a very interesting partial solution of the affine Bernstein problem. Let x: \(M\to A\) be a locally strongly convex, equiaffine complete, affine-maximal surface in real affine space \(A^ 3\). Denote by \(\kappa\) the curvature of the Blaschke metric and by \(\tau\) the affine Gauss-Kronecker curvature (determinant of the equiaffine Weingarten operator). If for some \(c\in {\mathbb{R}}\), \(c>2/5\), the sum \(\kappa +c\tau\) is bounded below by a constant on M, then M is an elliptic paraboloid. As a corollary, if \(\tau\) is bounded below by a constant, x is an elliptic paraboloid. The proof follows from the construction of an appropriate subharmonic function on M.
