The paper deals with the stability analysis of a random multiple access system. Asymptotic properties of a synchronous communication system controlled by a decentralized ALOHA algorithm are considered. Assuming the independency of processes of new packet arrivals and the number of untransmitted messages by the moment n, the author describes the process of untransmitted messages using a Markov chain approach. He also gives the conditions of asymptotic stabilization of a transmission process. To provide a more accurate description of the behaviour of the process describing the number of untransmitted packets diffusion processes are used.
