Topological groups with the generalized minimal condition for subgroups (Q755909)

The locally compact solvable groups satisfying the descending chain condition on closed subgroups were described by \textit{V. M. Glushkov} [Ukr. Mat. Zh. 8, No.2, 135-139 (1956; Zbl 0072.260)]. The author generalizes substantially this result by characterizing the locally compact locally solvable groups satisfying the following generalized minimal condition (GMC): for every strictly decreasing chain \(G_ 1\supset G_ 2\supset...\supset G_ n\supset.\). of closed subgroups and for every neighbourhood U of the neutral element there exists n such that \(G_ n\subset U\). The author characterizes also the larger class of groups satisfying a weaker version of (GMC) in which only abelian subgroups \(G_ n\) are considered.
