Consider the \(n\times n\) matrix differential equation \((1)\quad (P(t)Y')'+Q(t)Y=0\) on \([0,+\infty)\), where P(t) and Q(t) are real, continuous, and symmetric, and \(P(t)>0\) (positive definite). Using methods similar to those of the author [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 19, 755-759 (1968; Zbl 0172.117)] and the author and \textit{D. Willett} [Ann. Mat. Pura Appl., IV. Ser. 79, 391-398 (1968; Zbl 0183.370)] the author extends their results to equation (1); similarly a theorem of \textit{R. Byers}, \textit{B. J. Harris} and \textit{M. K. Kwong} [J. Differ. Equations 61, 166-177 (1986; Zbl 0609.34042)] is also extended to equation (1).
