Let E be an infinite dimensional Banach space. The author considers the phase space satisfying the fundamental axioms introduced by \textit{J. K. Hale} and \textit{J. Kato} [Funkc. Ekvacioj 21, 11-41 (1978; Zbl 0383.34055)]. If x: (-\(\infty,\sigma +a)\to E\), \(0<a\leq \infty\), then for any \(t\in (-\infty,\sigma +a)\) we define \(x_ t: (-\infty,0]\to E\) by \(x_ 0(\theta)=x(t+\theta)\), \(-\infty <\theta \leq 0\). The purpose of this paper is to give sufficient conditions on the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Cauchy problem of the functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space \(dx/dt=f(t,x_ t),\) under some dissipative type condition.
