Simple exact solutions applicable to microwave heating (Q756023)

The author considers the heat equation coupled with Maxwell's equations of electromagnetism. This kind of mathematical problem is motivated by the considerable interest in the utilization of microwave heating to novel industrial applications. In this paper there is obtained a classification of the simple solutions in the one-dimensional case with electric and magnetic fields exhibiting a power law dependence on temperature. There are described exact solutions in each of the cases: time independent solutions, spatially independent solutions, travelling wave solutions and special separable solutions. The author comments about other possible exact analytical solutions.
