The author gives the answers for a few questions in the theory of cardinal invariants. He uses remainders of compactifications of discrete spaces to construct his examples. A simple but very interesting example may be mentioned. Let X be a compact space, A be a discrete space and \(| X| =| A| =\tau\). The Alexandroff compactification of A is denoted by \(A(\tau)=A\cup \{a\}\), where \(A=\cup \{A_ x:\) \(x\in X\}\) and \(\{A_ x\}\) a disjoint family of countable sets \(A_ x\). \(Y=(Y\times \{a\})\cup \cup \{\{x\}\times A_ x:\) \(x\in X\}\subset X\times A(\tau)\). Then Y is a compact space, \(X\subset Y\), \(Y\setminus X\) is a discrete space and X is a sequential remainder of (Y\(\setminus X)\).
