The theory of linear rigid dielectric materials is formulated within the framework of the well-known theory of dielectrics with polarization gradients. The general constitutive relations for elastic dielectrics are adapted to homogeneous and isotropic linear rigid materials. Employing the energy relation a uniqueness theorem is proved. A sufficient condition is established for the equivalence of solutions corresponding to this case and to the classical electrostatics.
