The author considers the numerical solution of a quasilinear singular perturbation problem of the form \(-\epsilon u''-b(u)u'+c(x,u)=0,\quad x\in I=[0,1],\quad u(0)=U_ 0,\quad u(1)=U_ 1,\) with \(0<\epsilon \ll 1\), b and c are given functions. Two nonequidistant finite-difference schemes are discussed and compared. Both of them are improvements of the Enquist-Osher method. Both schemes show quadratic convergence in \(L^ 1\)-norm.
