Theoretical investigations of the immersion of bodies in a fluid were first carried out in the forties of our century and were devoted to the entry of a wedge into an incompressible fluid. By the method of matched asymptotic expansions we find a composite solution of the problem of entry of a thin cone into an incompressible fluid. The new solution is based on considering nonlinear terms in the Cauchy-Lagrange integral and is uniformly valid in a neighborhood of the nose of the cone.
