Asymptotics of eigencurves for second order ordinary differential equations. I (Q757720)

The authors study the regular two parameter equation \(-(py')'+qy=(\lambda f-\mu r)y\) with \(p>0\), \(r>0\) on [0,1] and integrable coefficients. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of \(\lim_{\lambda \to \infty}\mu^ n/\lambda\) and asymptotic expansions are obtained for \(\mu^ n\) for each fixed number n of interval zeros of the eigenfunctions y.
