A Cameron-Liebler class of lines with parameter x in PG(3,q) is a set L of lines such that \(| L\cap S| =x\) for all spreads S. Examples: For \(x=0\), the null set. For \(x=1\), the set of lines through a point or the set of lines in a plane. For \(x=2\), the union of the above two sets where the defining point is not in the defining line. Other examples with \(x=q^ 2+1,\) \(q^ 2,q^ 2,\) \(q^ 2-1\) are given by the complements of the above. For \(x=1\) or 2, Cameron and Liebler have shown that the only cases are those given above [\textit{P. J. Cameron} and \textit{R. A. Liebler}, Linear Algebra Appl. 46, 91-102 (1982; Zbl 0504.05015).] They also showed that for \(x=2\), L is the union of sets of the types for \(x=1\). The author shows that \(x=3\) occurs when \(q=2\) and that there are no examples when \(q\geq 5\) and \(x=4\). He also shows the equivalence with what he calls a weighted set of points.
