Geometric surface design has been developed in various branches, especially in the field of approximation theory. The traditional procedures start with discretizations of the surface at an early stage. The method presented by the author may be considered as an alternative and supplement to this, especially when the surfaces come in complicated analytic representations. By using tools of differential geometry one develops a theory for studying the attributes of surfaces like boundaries, silhouettes and intersections. His results are based on the new concept of `sight indices' which control the change of coverings dynamically along arbitrary given curves. The method used is entirely curve oriented, so suitable for most graphic outputs, in particular for plotters.
