The problem of solar and stellar wind acceleration is considered analytically. It was shown that an additional momentum delivered to the system may accelerate the wind flow and thus provide higher wind velocities at 1 A.U. which are closer to the observational values. The momentum increase is taken to be due to some average transverse magnetic field component and it was found that the solar wind speed at 1 A.U. can be raised by 40\% if the additional transverse field component reaches 10\% of the longitudinal one.
