Let L be a uniformly elliptic operator with real principal part. Consider the eigenvalue problem \(Lu=\lambda u\), \(x\in G\), \(u|_{\partial G}=0\). Theorem. Let be \(| Im \sqrt{\lambda}| \leq M\) for all \(\lambda\) and K, K' are the two compacts in G, K'\(\subset K\). Then there exists a constant C depending only on K, K', M, L such that for every eigenfunction we have the estimate \[ \| u\|_{L_{\infty}(K)}\leq C[| \lambda |^{(N-1)/4}+1]\| u\|_{L_ 2(K')}. \] Analog results are stated for adjoint functions.
