This is a continuation of the author's earlier paper [Geom. Dedicata 9, 153-194 (1980; Zbl 0449.51003)]. Let \(\pi\) be a translation plane of order \(q^ 3\) with kernel GF(q). The main result of the paper under review is that the translation complement of \(\pi\) cannot contain a group such that \(G/Z(G)=A_ 7\). This removes a possible exception to the results of the earlier paper. It is also shown that the assumptions of the earlier paper can be slightly relaxed.
