The primary conclusion derived in this paper is that the leading principal minors of the matrix B-\(\omega\) A (where B is a symmetric positive definite matrix and A is a Hermitian matrix) have properties similar to those of Sturm sequences, which is the theoretical basis of the determinant search method for solving the eigenvalue problem of damped structural systems, correcting the errors in a statement given by K.
