A new derivation of the equations of linear theory of thin magnetoelastic plates is introduced and a modified magnetoelasticity hypothesis is applied. The problem of waves travelling in a free infinite plate through a uniform magnetic field is solved for both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields.
