The author investigates first the steady mass and heat transfer of an arbitrarily shaped droplet or solid particle in the translational and shear flow of an incompressible fluid. The coefficient of diffusion (or heat conduction) is assumed to be an arbitrary function of concentration (or temperature). The solutions are derived by the method of asymptotic expansion. Then the author considers simultaneous heat and mass transfer of an arbitrarily shaped particle with the translational flow of a compressed gas. In the 3rd part, the effects of chemical reactions are considered. These studies are then extended to unsteady diffusion with chemical reaction near the surface. This is a good paper for chemical engineers.
