Some results on simultaneous stabilization (Q760398)

The main purpose of this paper is to complement previous results and to give conditions for simultaneous stabilization of distinct plants. An algebraic characterization of the simultaneous stabilization problem is given by using the method of doubly coprime factorization. For the case of two distinct plants necessary and sufficient conditions for simultaneous stabilization are proposed. These conditions are regarded as a supplement to the previous work of the second author and \textit{N. Viswanadham}, [IEEE Trans. Autom. Control. AC-27, 1085-1095 (1982; Zbl 0496.93044)]. For the case of multiple plants, a condition for simultaneous stabilization in terms of the poles and zeros of the plants is presented. An illustrative example for simultaneous stabilization of two distinct plants is also given.
